Pastor
Pastor Bryan Tanis was born and raised in Fremont. He came to know the Lord at the age of 12 at Lake Ann Camp after a message that revealed his need for a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
After graduating from Fremont High School in 1979, Pastor Tanis attended Maranatha Baptist University, where he felt led of God to study for the ministry. While at Maranatha, he met his wife and partner in ministry, Pat, and they were married after graduating in 1983.
The Tanises have been blessed with several wonderful ministry opportunities in the past 38 years. They have ministered in Millington, Michigan, Watertown, Wisconsin and most recently in Warren, Michigan. In 2016, Pastor Tanis accepted the call to return to Fremont and become the Pastor of Faith Baptist Church.
It is Pastor Tanis’ personal desire to serve Faith Baptist Church and the people of Fremont. His desire for the church is to make it a place where families can attend in an atmosphere of unity and develop a passion for serving Christ. He believes it is the responsibility of every Christian to love the Lord with their whole heart and carry out His commission to love our neighbors as ourselves.
Bryan and Pat have been blessed with two children. Their son, Ryan, his wife Jessica, and their children live in Charlotte, North Carolina, where they are faithfully serving the Lord in their local church. Their daughter, Lindsay, lives in Newaygo and works at Newaygo Middle School and is actively serving the Lord at Faith Baptist Church.
Assistant Pastor
Pastor Josh grew up in Saginaw, Michigan. He attended Community Baptist Church and Christian School where he graduated from in 2007. He attended Northland Baptist Bible College (Northland International University) from 2007-2014 during which he attained a Bachelor of Arts in Church Ministries – Youth Ministries (2011) and a Master of Biblical Counseling (2014). During college, Joshua worked at Northland Camp & Conference Center as a teen counselor and on program staff. He did his internship at Liberty Baptist Church in Las Vegas, Nevada. While finishing up his master’s degree in 2012 to 2014, he began teaching at Community Baptist Christian School, his alma mater.
Upon graduating with his master’s degree, Pastor Josh moved to metro Detroit and began working at Faith Baptist Church of Warren and Faith Christian School Clinton Township. This is where he met Pastor Tanis as he interned under him for a year before beginning teaching full-time in the school. When Pastor Tanis moved to Fremont, Josh and his sister, Kathleen, came over every weekend to help with the church and would come for several weeks every summer.
In 2021, Pastor Josh moved to Fremont/Muskegon and began working part-time at Faith Baptist Church with the kids, teens, and music ministries. In 2024, he came on staff full-time as the assistant to the pastor. He is excited about the opportunities that God has for him here in the future.
